If I take this Internet based 12
hour Advanced Driver Improvement course, will my license suspension
be lifted?
No. If you received notification from the Florida Department
of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles that your Florida driver license
is or will be suspended or revoked, you will still have to serve out
your suspension / revocation period. You must show proof of enrollment
in the advanced driver improvement course before you can apply for
a Florida hardship license. If this license is granted to you, you
may use it to drive to necessary appointments (such as work and school)
while your suspension period is in effect.
You must show proof of completion of the advanced driver improvement
course before your Florida license will be reinstated by the DHSMV.
If you received a driver license suspension notification from DHSMV,
we recommend that you complete your ADI class as soon as possible
so that you don't forget about it.
For general questions and answers about Florida driver license suspensions
and revocations, you can visit the DHSMV
website.
What is the online Advanced Driver
Improvement course like?
If you're worried about having to listen to someone lecture for 12
hours, you don't need to worry any longer! The online advanced driver
improvement course uses an interactive format that will keep you engaged
in the material through the use of text, animations, and video. Definitely
more stimulating than a dull classroom!
The advanced driver improvement course will examine the factors that
have led to your being required to take this course. You will be asked
to answer questions about your driving habits and behaviors and learn
how emotions, attitudes, and personality structure all have a significant
impact on these habits and behaviors. The ultimate goal of this online
adi school is to help you identify problem areas and assist you in
developing a strategy to avoid situations that will cause you trouble
in the future.
This advanced driver improvement course for Florida suspended license
and HTO's requires a minimum of 12 hours to complete, just like a
traditional classroom ADI program. The course is broken down into
small segments that focus on particular driving habits and key issues.
You can log in and out of the course as often as you wish and take
as much time as you need to complete the course.
Unlike a classroom advanced driver improvement course, the online
class requires you to take a 24 hour break after you have completed
the first six hours of course work. This is required for ALL online
ADI schools. After you have waited the 24 hour period, you can resume
your course activity where you left off. We will keep track of your
advanced driver improvemet course progress while you are taking the
course.
